TEAMING WORKSHOP

DARPA will host an Information and Teaming Workshop in support of the DARPA Bay Area Hackfest on May 22, 2017 at The Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California. The purpose of this meeting is to provide information on the DARPA Bay Area Hackfest, promote additional discussion on this topic, address questions from potential applicants, and provide an opportunity for potential applicants to share their capabilities and ideas for teaming arrangements. There will be two sessions, one from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM PDT and another from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM PDT. Participants must register for the workshop through the registration website by May 22, 2017 7:00 PM PDT. Teaming and collaboration is encouraged, and the Information and Teaming Workshop is designed in part to promote such discussions.

The Information and Teaming Workshop will include an overview presentation by government personnel and opportunities for team building among the participants.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVE AND DESCRIPTION

The objective of the DARPA Software-Defined Radio (SDR) Bay Area Hackfest is to engage and enable a community of interested engineers and scientists working towards the future confluence of radio and information technology. The DARPA Bay Area Hackfest will focus on remotely piloted aircraft. The physical and cyber worlds are becoming inseparable. Computers, home appliances, vehicles, cameras, and the myriad handheld devices upon which we all now depend are wirelessly connected to each other and to ourselves with each system striving to achieve its respective mission in an ever more congested electromagnetic (EM) space. This Hackfest is designed to explore and better understand the complex relationships we are creating within the EM spectrum and examine in particular the cyber-physical intersection of software defined radio (SDR) and remotely piloted aircraft. The DARPA Bay Area Hackfest will be a 3-part event. Two parts will be open to anyone to attend and participate, but one part, the Hackfest missions, will be team-based. Teams participating in the mission portion of the Hackfest must apply and be accepted to participate. For the week of the Hackfest, selected teams will work on specific missions using provided hardware (as well as any hardware they may choose to bring with them) and an open source software development toolkit. There is no fee to participate, but teams must provide their own travel, time, and any additional development resources they choose to bring. At the end of the Hackfest, solutions that demonstrate new and innovative capability may be eligible to submit for DARPA funding to advance the idea. Please join us for the DARPA Bay Area SDR Hackfest Information and Teaming Workshop to learn about the missions, the structure of the event, and how to apply. The workshop is an opportunity to meet the community of like-minded engineers to form teams to extend your individual capabilities.

TEAMING

DARPA strongly encourages teaming to ensure the expertise and capabilities necessary to meet program goals. Interested parties are invited to create a Teaming Profile on the Hackfest Teaming Workshop registration website. The profile will include:

- Organization name
- Technical POC name and email
- Contract POC name and email
- Brief description of participant's capabilities and expertise

Neither DARPA nor DoD endorses the information and organizations contained in the consolidated Teaming Directory, nor does DARPA or DoD exercise any responsibility for improper dissemination of the teaming profiles.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Registration is limited by the venue capacity (maximum of 200 attendees per session) and early registration is strongly recommended. Registration may close prior to the registration deadline due to the venue capacity being met. There will be no registration fee. The workshop is being held to promote teaming arrangements between potential applicants; provide potential performers with information on how to do business with DARPA should they wish to advance their idea/s after the Bay Area Hackfest (e.g., available solicitations, how to increase efficiency in proposal preparation and evaluation, etc.). Therefore, the workshop is open only to registered potential participants. The event is closed to media. An on‐line registration form, preliminary agenda, meeting details, and hotel information for the Information and Teaming Workshop can be found on this registration website.
