DARPA Academic Research Roundtable

Special Notice

Special Notice (SN) DARPA-SN-17-15
DARPA Academic Research Roundtable
March 8, 2017

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is sponsoring an Academic Research Roundtable event with the broader potential performer community in higher education for the purpose of engaging its members in a dialogue on technology and research opportunities. The event will include discussion of the Agency’s vision and goals, overviews of each of DARPA’s technical offices by office leadership, and an explanation of the mechanics of working with DARPA.

Attendance will be limited to 40 chief research officers (i.e., Provost, Vice President for Research, Vice Provost for Research, or equivalent title), and only one individual per institution.  Given the breadth of DARPA’s mission, we strongly prefer participation at the university-wide level rather than that of a college or research center.  Advance registration is required to attend this event.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

The Academic Research Roundtable event will be held on March 8, 2017 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM at DARPA’s Conference Center (675 N. Randolph Street, Arlington, VA 22203).  Note, all times listed in this announcement and on the registration website are Eastern Time.  There is no registration fee for the Academic Research Roundtable.

Registration opens: As of publication of this announcement.
Registration closes: January 19, 2017 at 5:00 PM or when capacity is reached, whichever comes first.

Due to conference facility space limitations, attendance is restricted to the first 40 accepted registrants. Because attendance is limited to one representative per institution, interested parties are encouraged to coordinate internally within their organizations prior to submitting a registration request.

Registration for attending the Academic Research Roundtable must be requested in advance via the Academic Research Roundtable website:  http://events.sa-meetings.com/DARRMarch2017.  Please note, this is only a registration request.  Once you have completed the registration request on the website, you will receive an email confirming receipt.  You will be notified via a second email no later than January 26, 2017 whether your registration has been accepted.

Acceptance will be based on meeting the requirements outlined herein for eligibility and space limitations.

Registration requests in excess of the maximum capacity limitation will be added to the waitlist.  If slots remain open after registration closes or become available due to cancellations, the slots will be filled on a first come, first served basis from the waitlist.

ELIGIBILITY

Registration is open to chief research officers at academic institutions (i.e., Provost, Vice President for Research, Vice Provost for Research, or equivalent title) who are U.S. Citizens, U.S. Permanent Residents, and Foreign Nationals. All registrants who are not U.S. Citizens must complete and submit a DARPA Form 60 (U.S. Permanent Resident and Foreign National Visit Request) no later than 5:00 PM on March 1, 2017. This form and submission instructions are provided on the registration website and in the registration confirmation email.

The event is closed to the general public and media.  Upon entry to the event, all attendees will be required to present valid, Government-issued photo identification.
