DARPA-SN-17-23
DARPA Academic Research Roundtable
April 20, 2017
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is sponsoring an Academic Research Roundtable event with the broader potential performer community in higher education for the purpose of engaging its members in a dialogue on technology and research opportunities. As originally advertised in DARPA-SN-17-15, the event will include discussion of the Agency’s vision and goals, overviews of each of DARPA’s technical offices by office leadership, and an explanation of the mechanics of working with DARPA.
Due to the overwhelming response to the publication of DARPA-SN-17-15, DARPA has added a session on April 20, 2017 to accommodate the large number of waitlisted registrants for the March 8, 2017 roundtable. Registration for the March session is now closed and DARPA is not accepting any new registrations for the April session.
If DARPA continues to receive strong interest from the community for these roundtables, additional dates may be scheduled. Interested parties may add their names to a waitlist at http://events.sa-meetings.com/DARR2017. The agenda and requirements for future sessions is anticipated to remain the same as those for the March and April sessions, specifically, the chief research officer at academic institutions (i.e., Provost, Vice President for Research, Vice Provost for Research, or equivalent title). It is assumed that at any institution there is only one such individual and we ask interested organizations to respect this restriction. It is because of the breadth of the agency's mission, that DARPA strongly prefers participation at the university-wide level rather than that of a college or research center. All sessions will be closed to the general public and media, and advance registration will be required.
Attendance at the March and April sessions is limited to 40 chief research officers, and only one individual per institution. Note, the limitation on individuals from the same institution applies for both dates (i.e., an institution cannot have one individual attending on the first date and another individual on the second date).
Registration requests for the March session in excess of the maximum capacity limitation were added to a waitlist in the order they were received via the registration website. Waitlisted registrants were also automatically added to the registration queue for the April 20, 2017 date. Waitlisted registrants will receive an email notification as to whether they may attend the April 20 session no later than March 15, 2017.
